Borno Flood: Peter Obi, Labour Party Donate ₦50 Million To Support Victims

Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), along with key party members, has donated ₦50 million to aid victims of the recent devastating floods in Borno State. Obi, accompanied by Senator Nenadi Usman, LP Caretaker Chairman; Datti Baba-Ahmed, the 2023 vice-presidential candidate; and Tanko Yunusa, National Coordinator of the Obidients Movement, paid a visit to Governor Babagana Zulum on Tuesday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement shared on his X handle, Obi expressed the party’s commitment to providing continued support for those affected by the disaster. The statement read, “While in the state, we visited Governor Babagana Zulum, His Highness the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garba Al Amin El-Kanemi, and the people of Borno following the catastrophic flooding that claimed many lives and caused significant damage to properties.”

Obi and the delegation also visited the Bank of the North spare parts market, where many traders lost their goods, an IDP camp at Government College, and a grieving woman who tragically lost her newborn twins to the flood.

He emphasized that the Labour Party is dedicated to helping the victims recover, saying, “Our initial donation of ₦50 million to the state government is just the beginning. We will continue to stand by the people of Borno, providing the necessary support to rebuild lives and communities.”

Obi also praised the efforts of the Borno State government and prayed for the quick recovery of those affected, offering condolences to families who lost loved ones. “May God grant eternal rest to the departed, replenish the losses of those affected, and bless Borno State and Nigeria as a whole,” he concluded.
