Peter Obi Clarifies 2027 Ambitions: A Focus on Nigeria’s Challenges....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate from the 2023 general election, recently addressed rumors regarding his political intentions for the 2027 elections. In a post on his official X account, Obi stated he has never claimed he would serve as vice president to anyone in the upcoming election.
Obi’s remarks came in response to a misinterpretation of a recent interview. He accused certain fifth columnists of engaging in propaganda and deliberately distorting his words. The former Governor of Anambra State stressed that his focus is not on political ambitions but on addressing the urgent issues facing Nigerians today, such as hunger, poverty, and insecurity.
“I do not want to be one of those preoccupied with 2027 while Nigerians are suffering from hunger, poverty, insecurity, and other pressing challenges,” he stated. Obi emphasized his commitment to working with individuals who share his vision for advancing Nigeria’s progress, asserting that he is not desperate to hold any political office.
Obi’s message was clear: his priorities lie in collaboration with those who genuinely aim to improve Nigeria, rather than those driven by personal or political gain. “I explicitly stated my openness to working with others, provided their intentions were not centered on state capture,” he noted.
Maintaining his allegiance to the Labour Party, Obi called for transparency in any potential political negotiations. He asserted that if he chooses to run for any office in 2027, it will be with partners who are focused on concrete solutions rather than mere electoral victories. “I want them to explain how we will ensure that no child is left behind and how we will bring millions of out-of-school children back into classrooms, ensure healthy living, and pull people out of poverty,” he added.
