APC’s Tajudeen Aro Suspended for Allegations of Deceit and Anti-Party Activities....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has suspended Alhaji Tajudeen Aro, the former Publicity Secretary, following his accusations of insincerity and deceit within the party. Aro, who is vying for the chairmanship of Offa Local Government Area, criticized the local government primary elections, labeling them as chaotic and alleging that the electoral committee had betrayed the public trust.

Aro voiced his concerns, stating that no genuine primary election took place for the party’s local government elections. “Is this how a party should operate? They are frustrating the efforts of party members because they want to manipulate the election. This is a sign of anti-party behavior,” he remarked, emphasizing the need for transparency within the APC.

The chairmanship aspirant further claimed that the state chapter of the APC was not adhering to its constitution. He urged party members to question whether the current leadership was genuinely working for the party or if they were secretly aligned with another political group. “They are just selecting people they want from different local governments,” he asserted.

Aro specifically accused House of Assembly members and the Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Political Affairs of handpicking councillors in Offa Local Government, even in wards outside their jurisdiction. In a letter he wrote to the Governor in 2021, Aro warned that the practice of sidelining party members for appointed officials could lead to adverse consequences. Unfortunately, he stated that he never received a response.

Describing his experience as a chairmanship aspirant, Aro revealed that when it became clear he had significant support, he was offered N5 million to withdraw in favor of his opponent. “We are not sincere as a party, and we are deceiving people. Our leaders are deceiving people,” he lamented.

In response to Aro’s allegations, the APC Ojomu North North West Ward issued a suspension letter on September 15, 2024. The letter, signed by various party leaders including Chairman Alhaji Layi Oyediran and Secretary Mr. Fagbemi Adeolu, cited Aro’s involvement in anti-party activities and attempts to create discord within the party as the reasons for his suspension.

The letter concluded, “In view of your recent blatant anti-party activities, attempts to create discord and divisiveness within the party, and your disregard for party supremacy, the decision-making organ of our party in Ojomu North North West Ward hereby suspends your membership of the party with immediate effect.”
