Why Obaseki’s Betrayal And Asue Ighodalo’s Complicity Spell Disaster For Edo’s Governance....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In the turbulent political landscape of Edo State, it is crucial that voters decisively reject both Governor Godwin Obaseki and his ally, Asue Ighodalo, in the upcoming elections. Obaseki’s tenure has drawn alarming parallels to the notorious tactics of historical figures like Adolf Hitler, employing manipulative strategies akin to those outlined in Machiavelli’s The Prince and Robert Greene’s 48 Laws of Power. Yet, despite his cunning, Obaseki has flagrantly ignored the fundamental principle of reputation, as emphasized in Law 5: “so much depends on reputation—guard it with your life.” His reputation is marred by deceit and betrayal, rendering him untrustworthy.

Law 36 of Greene’s 48 Laws of Power suggests that sometimes ignoring minor offenses demonstrates power. This principle, however, was poorly executed in Obaseki’s handling of Philip Shuaibu’s aspirations for governorship. Instead of addressing Shuaibu’s legitimate constitutional right with tact, Obaseki’s actions have further alienated him from key political allies, revealing a disturbing lack of foresight.

The betrayal of Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomole, who once championed Obaseki’s rise to power, only to be undermined by him, is a testament to Obaseki’s duplicity. Despite a history of loyalty and support, Obaseki repaid Oshiomole’s trust with betrayal, orchestrating his removal as National Chairman and destabilizing his political foundation.

Philip Shuaibu’s experience under Obaseki exemplifies the governor’s disregard for loyalty. Shuaibu, who sacrificed personal and political standing for Obaseki, found himself marginalized and betrayed. Contrary to Obaseki’s intentions, Shuaibu’s resilience and political maneuvering have revitalized his standing, making him a formidable force for the upcoming elections.

Asue Ighodalo’s role in this saga is equally troubling. His passive approach and failure to assert leadership while Obaseki dismantled alliances and trust is indicative of poor judgment and ineffectiveness. Ighodalo’s potential to inherit the governorship would likely continue Obaseki’s legacy of chaos and dysfunction.

Edo State deserves better leadership than the failed promises of Obaseki and the uninspired potential of Ighodalo. Voters should turn to Monday Okpebholo, whose humility and vision for unity offer a promising alternative. Okpebholo stands ready to address Edo’s challenges with integrity and dedication, fostering progress and prosperity for the people.

In the face of Obaseki’s failures and Ighodalo’s questionable leadership, the choice is clear: reject the status quo and support a candidate committed to true positive change for Edo State.

Human rights lawyer Frank Tietie has criticized the nomination and subsequent confirmation of Professor Abayomi Fasina, the former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, as a non-career ambassador designate.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Prior to his confirmation, a coalition of civil society organizations protested at the National Assembly on July 7, 2026, opposing Fasina’s nomination due to pending court cases involving allegations of sexual harassment, human rights violations, and victimization.

  • Despite these protests, the Nigerian Senate officially confirmed Fasina’s appointment as a non-career ambassador on Thursday.

Frank Tietie’s Position

  • During an interview on ARISE Television, Tietie argued that nominating an individual with such “baggage” was a mistake, emphasizing that ambassadors represent Nigeria in the same capacity as the President.

  • Tietie stated that the government should have sent the “right signals” by avoiding such controversial appointments, especially given the current state of governance.

  • He argued that even in the absence of a final court judgment, the allegations themselves have “tainted” Fasina’s reputation, and the Senate should have delayed the confirmation until the legal matters were resolved.

  • Tietie also suggested that the National Assembly’s decision overlooks significant social changes regarding how such allegations are now viewed by society.
