From Joy To Despair: Nigeria’s Medical Diagnosis Scandal Exposed – How Faulty Tests Are Destroying Lives!....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Kevin Abonyi, an Enugu native, faced a shocking turn of events when a routine medical test before his marriage revealed a positive HIV status. Intent on starting a new chapter in his life, Mr. Abonyi visited a lab in Obollo Afor, Udenu Local Government Area, Enugu State, to check his blood group, genotype, and HIV status. To his horror, the test came back positive.

Devoutly religious and confident in his moral integrity, Mr. Abonyi decided to seek a second opinion. He reassured his fiancée, promising further testing. Upon retesting in Lagos, the results were negative, sparking relief and renewed hope. Subsequent tests at Bishop Shanahan Hospital and the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) confirmed the negative result. Mr. Abonyi and his wife, who are now parents to four children, have celebrated their marriage as a testament to faith and perseverance.

In contrast, 42-year-old George from Enugu State met a tragic end due to a misdiagnosis. Initially treated for ulcers, George’s condition worsened, revealing too late that he had Hepatitis B, which severely damaged his liver. Despite attempts to save him, George passed away, leaving behind a young family.

Similarly, James Kayode and his wife faced a medical nightmare when their child, repeatedly falling ill, was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia—contradicting earlier lab results that had indicated they were both AA. The erroneous pre-marital genotype test had led to unexpected and distressing medical complications.

These cases underscore a broader issue of misdiagnosis in Nigeria, leading to significant personal and social repercussions. In a culture where male children are highly valued, erroneous gender predictions during pregnancy have caused distress, such as Mrs. Chioma Ezeadi’s surprise at delivering a boy despite predictions of a girl, and Mrs. Gloria Ibe’s unexpected birth of a boy after being assured of a girl.

Medical professionals, including Medical Laboratory Scientist Abuchi Kingsley and Gynaecologist Dr. Chikodi Onyemkpa, highlight that such errors stem from various factors, including inadequate personnel, faulty equipment, and improper sample handling. They stress the importance of quality control and proper training in diagnostic procedures to prevent these errors.

The growing concern over wrong medical diagnoses highlights the urgent need for reform in Nigeria’s healthcare system to ensure accurate and reliable medical testing, thereby safeguarding public health and preventing distressing outcomes.

Ambassadorial Nomination Under Fire: Frank Tie Tie Exposes ‘Mistake’ Regarding Ex-FUOYE VC Fasina!.

Human rights lawyer Frank Tietie has criticized the nomination and subsequent confirmation of Professor Abayomi Fasina, the former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, as a non-career ambassador designate.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Prior to his confirmation, a coalition of civil society organizations protested at the National Assembly on July 7, 2026, opposing Fasina’s nomination due to pending court cases involving allegations of sexual harassment, human rights violations, and victimization.

  • Despite these protests, the Nigerian Senate officially confirmed Fasina’s appointment as a non-career ambassador on Thursday.

Frank Tietie’s Position

  • During an interview on ARISE Television, Tietie argued that nominating an individual with such “baggage” was a mistake, emphasizing that ambassadors represent Nigeria in the same capacity as the President.

  • Tietie stated that the government should have sent the “right signals” by avoiding such controversial appointments, especially given the current state of governance.

  • He argued that even in the absence of a final court judgment, the allegations themselves have “tainted” Fasina’s reputation, and the Senate should have delayed the confirmation until the legal matters were resolved.

  • Tietie also suggested that the National Assembly’s decision overlooks significant social changes regarding how such allegations are now viewed by society.
