Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf officially launched the construction of a five-kilometre road project in Kunchi town, located in the Ghari Local Government Area, as part of the ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure across rural communities. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Friday, with the governor emphasizing the importance of the project for local development.
In a statement released on Saturday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, it was revealed that this project was originally initiated during the second tenure of former Governor Rabi’u Kwankwaso. However, the project had been abandoned by the previous administration under Governor Abdullahi Ganduje. Governor Yusuf expressed his commitment to reviving and completing the initiative to benefit the people of Kunchi and surrounding areas.
Addressing the contractor responsible for the project, Governor Yusuf issued a stern directive to begin work on-site within the next week. He warned that failure to comply would result in the government revoking the contract. “I’m calling on the contractor to mobilise to the site in the next week. Failure to do so will compel the state government to revoke the CV contract,” the governor stated.
The governor expressed gratitude to the residents of Kunchi for their patience and cooperation, assuring them that the project would significantly enhance the area’s infrastructure.
Before launching the Kunchi road project, Governor Yusuf, accompanied by his deputy, Aminu Gwarzo, and other members of the State Executive Council, inaugurated a newly completed township road in Yandadi town. The governor also visited the Kano State College of Education and Preliminary Studies in Ghari, where he pledged that the state government would provide all necessary infrastructure to support uninterrupted academic activities at the institution.
