Lagos State Cracks Down on Street Miscreants: 12 Arrested in Sanitation Sweep
In a determined effort to restore order and cleanliness to the streets of Lagos, the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) has arrested 12 individuals following targeted surveillance operations in various areas of the state. Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, announced the crackdown on X.com on Friday. He stated, “Acting on reports received from concerned citizens on the menace and nuisance caused by miscreants and destitute, the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps #LAGESCOfficial (KAI) yesterday, deployed surveillance teams in some of the areas reported.”
The operation focused on several key locations, including Falomo in Ikoyi, Adeola Odeku and Sanusi Fafunwa in Victoria Island, as well as Chisco, Ikate, and Marwa along the Lekki-Ajah expressway. These areas were closely monitored, leading to the apprehension of 12 suspects—10 adults and 2 minors.
Wahab also confirmed that the arrested individuals will face legal proceedings in a court of competent jurisdiction, underscoring the state’s commitment to maintaining public order and ensuring that Lagos remains a clean and safe environment for all residents.
