Dino Melaye Accuses PDP Leadership of Commercialization and Sabotage....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Dino Melaye, the 2023 Kogi State governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has made serious allegations against the party’s current leadership, claiming it has become “commercialized” and “privatized.” In a recent post on his X handle, Melaye expressed his concerns about the PDP’s declining relevance in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Melaye did not hold back in his criticism, stating that the PDP has reached “the end of the road” due to the actions of the acting national chairman, Iliya Damagum, national secretary Samuel Anyanwu, and national organizing secretary Umar Bature. He believes that these leaders have irreparably damaged the party. Melaye’s remarks included a stark warning about the state of the PDP, declaring, “PDP is now once upon a time.”

The tensions within the PDP are not isolated to Melaye’s claims. Lawmakers in the House of Representatives have also raised serious allegations against Damagum and Anyanwu. Members of the Opposition Coalition accused the party leaders of sabotaging the PDP by supporting defected former members of the Rivers State House of Assembly. This support allegedly aims to facilitate an impeachment attempt against the Rivers State governor, Sim Fubara.

Inside the Opposition Coalition

Ikenga Ugochinyere, the spokesperson for the Opposition Coalition and a member of the House of Representatives, outlined what he described as a systematic effort by Damagum and Anyanwu to weaken the PDP from within. Ugochinyere’s statements reflect growing discontent among party members regarding the current leadership.

In response to the escalating criticism, Damagum addressed the party’s internal issues during the inauguration of the PDP National Reconciliation and Disciplinary Committees in Abuja. He asserted that he would not be intimidated into resigning from his position. Damagum dismissed the claims against him, suggesting that those calling for his resignation are only boosting his popularity.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has revealed that the governing body is exploring the possibility of expanding the 2030 World Cup to include 64 teams. This potential shift follows the recent expansion from 32 to 48 teams for the 2026 tournament, which increased the match count to 104. Infantino advocates for this change to provide smaller footballing nations with greater opportunities to qualify, arguing that increased representation motivates countries to invest in their local leagues, academies, and national programs. While the proposal remains subject to approval by FIFA’s decision-making bodies, it aims to narrow the competitive gap between traditional powerhouses and emerging teams. The 2030 event, which commemorates the tournament’s centenary, is already unique for being hosted by six countries across three continents: Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, Morocco, Portugal, and Spain.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

FIFA is considering a massive shake-up for the 2030 World Cup, with President Gianni Infantino hinting at a potential expansion to 64 teams. Building on the success of the 48-team format introduced for 2026, Infantino believes that giving more countries a seat at the table is essential for the global development of the sport. He noted that under the current expanded format, teams from all continents have proven their competitiveness, suggesting that the divide between established nations and newcomers is shrinking. If approved, this 64-team structure would be implemented for a historic tournament already set to span three continents and six host nations to celebrate the competition’s 100th anniversary. FIFA is currently evaluating the logistical and financial implications of such an expansion before making a final decision.
