Before his death, a video showing the 74-year-old monarch pleading for his release went viral, sparking widespread outrage.

In a statement issued by Henshaw Ogubike, the Director of Information and Public Relations for the Ministry of Defence, the minister directed the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, to launch an immediate and thorough investigation into the murder. Matawalle also highlighted that security remains a top priority for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, which continues to provide unwavering support to the military. He reassured the public that the Armed Forces are fully committed to leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to track down the perpetrators of this crime.

In his statement, Matawalle expressed deep condolences to the family of the late district head, as well as to the people of Gatawa and the Sokoto State Government. He vowed that the government would continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians.

Speaking during a television interview on Sunday, Oshiomhole addressed broader political engagement strategies aimed at strengthening ties between the Federal Government and the South-East. “Please note, the fact that Hope Uzodimma is the secretary doesn’t mean he will be the one marketing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the Igbo nation. I believe that every other governor in the South-East also has a role to play,” Oshiomhole stated.
