Pastor Williams Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church, has called on Muslims and other religious bodies to join Christians in promoting good governance and fostering unity in Nigeria. During the inauguration of the Change Makers International (CMI) conference in Akure, Kumuyi emphasized the importance of collaboration across religious boundaries to drive positive change and enhance social impact.
Represented by Pastor Jacob Asubiojo, Kumuyi highlighted that he would participate in the six-day CMI conference in Ondo State. He clarified that the conference’s purpose is not to convert anyone to Christianity, but rather to promote transformational growth and participatory governance.
Kumuyi articulated the vision behind CMI as one aimed at challenging, encouraging, inspiring, and empowering individuals and groups to initiate positive changes that will yield significant societal values and good governance.
A Call for Collective Action
The Deeper Life founder shared that he envisions CMI as a platform that transcends religious, ethnic, and political boundaries. He stated, “We must understand that this is a paradigm shift from what we, either as Christians, Muslims, or other faith adherents, have known. It is a true call to the purpose of God for mankind beyond religiosity, denominations, and ethnicity.”
Kumuyi emphasized that Change Makers International is not merely a gathering of like-minded individuals but a movement aimed at raising awareness about the necessity of unity in setting goals and achieving shared visions. He stressed the need for collaboration to address pressing issues and dysfunctions facing communities, the nation, and the world.
“Whether in creating a friendly and secure environment, building sustainable community relationships, promoting social justice, or empowering marginalized groups, we must work hand in hand,” he added.
Support from Local Leaders
Olayide Adelami, the Ondo Deputy Governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Ademola Falohun, echoed Kumuyi’s sentiments. He emphasized that creating a conducive environment for development requires a collective effort from all Nigerians. “Let’s unite, irrespective of our religion. This is for the development of this nation, but we must speak with one voice and be united,” he stated.
