A video of the incident, which surfaced online on Wednesday, shows the suspects being apprehended by the residents, who stripped them naked as they pleaded for mercy. The footage quickly went viral, drawing widespread attention.

Reacting to the incident, Lagos State Police Spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest of the three suspects, who are now in police custody. The suspects have been identified as Taiwo Olayinka, aged 30, Azeez Sodiq, aged 33, and Saheed Moonstruck, aged 23.

In his statement, Hundeyin mentioned, “Three suspects, Taiwo Olayinka, 30, Azeez Sodiq, 33, and Saheed Moonstruck, 23, have been in our custody since yesterday, shortly after the incident, and efforts are on to arrest the remaining two suspects that escaped. Meanwhile, investigation has commenced.”

He added that the arrested individuals are suspected of either theft or kidnapping, with further investigation required to determine their exact involvement.

This arrest comes on the heels of a similar incident in July, where the Lagos State Police Command successfully foiled another kidnapping attempt in the Ladipo area. During that operation, nine suspects were killed, and four AK-47 rifles were recovered by the police. The incident took place on a Thursday night in July, as the police overpowered the armed gang in areas around Ajao, Okota, Isolo, and Ladipo.
