IPOB Denies Allegations, Reaffirms Peaceful Intentions in Southeast....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has strongly denied allegations that its members or the Eastern Security Network (ESN) are responsible for recent attacks on security operatives in Nigeria’s Southeast. In a statement released on Monday by IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful, the group clarified that the ESN was established solely as a vigilante group to protect the region from terrorists posing as herdsmen, not to engage with Nigerian security forces.
According to IPOB, the ESN’s primary mission, since its inception in December 2020, has been to safeguard the forests, bushes, and people of the Southeast, not to instigate violence. The group emphasized that any recent attacks in the region should be attributed to the very terrorists the ESN was formed to combat. These individuals, often nicknamed herdsmen, have been accused of widespread violence, including the mass murder of security personnel and the abduction and rape of women across Nigeria.
IPOB further accused the Nigerian government of turning a blind eye to the actions of these criminals, thereby tacitly supporting their activities. The group also dismissed accusations linking them to violent incidents, including the killing of Igbo military personnel in Aba, suggesting that these claims are part of a broader effort by the Federal Government to tarnish IPOB’s image on the global stage.
The pro-Biafran group reaffirmed its commitment to non-violence, insisting that if it ever decided to take up arms, the world would be aware. IPOB stressed that both the movement and the ESN remain dedicated to defending the Biafran people against those who seek to harm them. The group vowed to continue its fight for the restoration of Biafra’s sovereignty while maintaining peaceful methods.

VIOLENCE MUST END! ALGON Takes Radical Step To Restore Peace By Banning Transport Unions Across Osun!.
The Osun State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has suspended the operations of all transport unions within public motor parks across the state. This measure was taken in response to a series of violent clashes between rival groups, which the association deemed necessary to maintain public order and protect residents.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
-
Rationale for Suspension: The action follows repeated violent incidents involving factional disputes within the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), which resulted in the death of a toddler and the shooting of an elderly man.
-
Safety Concerns: ALGON Vice Chairman, Lanre Balogun, noted that public motor parks had increasingly become unsafe for commuters and operators, turning into hideouts for criminals.
-
Immediate Directive: Effective immediately, all transport unions—including motorcycle and tricycle operators—are prohibited from activities in public motor parks across the state’s 30 local government areas and the Ife East Area Office in Modakeke.
-
Security Measures: ALGON has requested that security agencies take control of these facilities to restore peace and track down individuals involved in the violence, specifically calling for the arrest of NURTW factional leader Nurudeen Alowonle.
-
Legal Basis: Balogun explained that the decision is supported by the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which grants local governments the authority to regulate motor parks and maintain public order. He emphasized that local government chairmen would not allow facilities under their control to become security threats, even if other authorities prioritize political considerations over safety.
The suspension will remain in effect until order is restored and public safety is ensured within the state’s transport sector.
