Chaos In Abuja: Police Exchange Gunfire With Hoodlums Amid #EndBadGovernance ProtestsThe Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has issued a high alert to medical personnel and hospitals in and around Abuja to prepare for potential victims with gunshot wounds. Naija News reports that this follows a shootout between police and hoodlums during protests against bad governance.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement, the Command detailed the events leading up to the shootout: “Following distress calls regarding the activities of hoodlums who exploited the ongoing protests, beginning Thursday, August 1st, 2024, to block the Lugbe end of the Shehu Musa Yaradua Expressway around 10 p.m., a confrontation ensued. The hoodlums engaged in robbery and assault against innocent citizens, resulting in an exchange of gunfire with police operatives in the Lugbe area.”

The Command emphasized the importance of the Compulsory Treatment and Care for Victims of Gunshot Act 2017, which classifies gunshot wounds as medical emergencies requiring immediate attention. Hospitals are urged to provide necessary medical assistance while notifying the police division or formation in their jurisdiction to investigate the circumstances surrounding such cases.

Commissioner of Police Benneth Igweh warned against individuals using the protests as a cover for committing crimes like armed robbery, shoplifting, assault, and vandalism.

“In line with the Compulsory Treatment and Care for Victims of Gunshot Act 2017, it is important to note that such patients come under medical emergencies that require urgent attention in order to save the life of the patient and should be accorded all necessary medical assistance. However, the Police Division/Formation within the jurisdiction of such hospital or healthcare facility should be informed to interview such patients to ascertain their roles in the prevailing security situation in the FCT.

“The Commissioner of Police hereby warns unscrupulous elements who may want to hide under the guise of protest to carry out heinous crimes such as armed robbery, shop breaking, rape, assault on innocent citizens, and vandalization of public property to desist from such actions. Police officers and other security agents have been put on red alert to curtail them and maintain law and order.

“The Commissioner of Police in charge of the FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, appreciated residents of the FCT for their continuous cooperation. He assures that all relevant measures will be emplaced to ensure that the current protests do not infringe on their fundamental rights or cause them losses or damage to their property,” the statement read

Shocking Admission: Peter Obi Claims Nigerians Actually Want Rigged Elections.

Published

on

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has argued that electoral manipulation persists in Nigeria largely because voters fail to remain at polling units to safeguard their ballots. During a recent trip to Washington, D.C., Obi pledged to do everything in his capacity to protect votes leading up to the 2027 general elections. However, he emphasized that the ultimate responsibility for ensuring electoral integrity lies with the citizens, urging them to actively monitor the counting process rather than leaving immediately after casting their votes. Obi stated that if voters insist on monitoring their polling units, their votes will be counted; he criticized the tendency of some citizens to vote and then rely on prayer instead of taking ownership of the electoral process, asserting that Nigeria’s core challenge is a leadership issue.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi claims that election rigging continues in Nigeria because citizens do not adequately defend their votes at the polling stations. While promising to work toward protecting the ballot for the 2027 elections, Obi noted that true electoral accountability depends on the public’s willingness to stay and ensure that votes are correctly tallied. He suggested that many Nigerians contribute to the problem by leaving their polling units early and expecting supernatural intervention, reaffirming his view that the nation’s primary struggle remains one of leadership.

University Response and Security Measures In the wake of the killing, the university administration has taken several steps to address the security crisis:

  • The incident has been formally reported to the Kalgo Division of the Nigeria Police Force, and an investigation is currently underway.

  • Security patrols have been heightened in Kalgo and other surrounding communities where students reside.

  • Management intends to engage with private hostel owners to implement stricter safety protocols, including the installation of better lighting and the hiring of night guards.

Advisories to the Student Body The university has urged its students to remain calm, law-abiding, and vigilant. Students have been advised to:

  • Avoid moving around late at night.

  • Travel in groups whenever possible.

Saudi Millions Ignored: Trabzonspor Turns Down €11M Offer For Nigerian Talisman.

Published

on

Trabzonspor have rebuffed an €11 million approach from a Saudi club for Paul Onuachu, deeming the offer significantly lower than their valuation of the Nigerian star. This marks the second time this year the Turkish side has fended off Saudi interest, following a failed January bid from Al-Ahli. Despite his stellar season—where he secured a share of the Golden Boot with 22 goals and led the club to Turkish Cup success—the striker’s future remains a talking point. While Trabzonspor are holding out for a better fee, head coach Fatih Tekke is reportedly looking for a more mobile forward to suit his preferred high-pressing tactical system, potentially opening the door for a move.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Despite a historic campaign that saw Paul Onuachu claim the Süper Lig Golden Boot and a Turkish Cup winner’s medal, his future at Trabzonspor hangs in the balance. The club has rejected an €11 million bid from Saudi Arabia, insisting the amount does not reflect the value of the 32-year-old. Although Onuachu remains a clinical force in the box, he may not align with manager Fatih Tekke’s vision of a forward who excels in aggressive defensive pressing. With the club president confirming that multiple players are attracting interest, it remains to be seen if a suitor will meet Trabzonspor’s asking price before the window shuts.

Option 3: Short & Direct (Best for social media/briefs) Trabzonspor continue to play hardball with Saudi suitors, rejecting a new €11 million bid for Paul Onuachu. The Turkish club considers the offer far too low for their prolific Nigerian striker, who finished last season as the league’s joint-top scorer with 22 goals. While Onuachu’s goal-scoring form is undeniable, reports suggest head coach Fatih Tekke may be looking for a different tactical profile up front, casting a shadow over the striker’s long-term future at the club.
