Writing by Sediq Mutari

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has issued a stern warning to President Bola Tinubu, urging him to reject economic policies advocated by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to avert a potential economic collapse.

In a statement released on Thursday by its National Chairman, Falalu Bello, the PRP cautioned that adherence to IMF-induced measures could lead to dire consequences for the nation’s economy.

The party criticized the government’s continued adoption of IMF-prescribed policies, attributing them to widespread poverty, unemployment, and inflation across the country.

Examples cited by the PRP include the removal of fuel subsidies, Naira devaluation, and interest rate hikes, all of which it contends have intensified the plight of Nigerians.

Furthermore, the PRP accused the government of prioritizing the interests of foreign creditors over the welfare of its citizens.

Expressing concern over the potential repercussions, the party warned that failure to reverse these policies could precipitate an economic meltdown with grave implications for the populace.

The PRP called on Tinubu to reassess his economic approach and embrace domestically formulated strategies that prioritize the needs of Nigerians over those advocated by the IMF and other external entities.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, the statement underscored the need for swift action to address the escalating challenges facing the country.

In particular, the PRP criticized the government’s stance on the National Minimum Wage, labeling it as inadequate and insensitive in light of increasing costs of living and disparities in pay among different branches of government employees

According to the source, the twins maintained a daily routine of speaking around midnight, but the conversation took a sudden turn that night when unusual activity was noticed at the General’s end.

He said the line went dead abruptly after the General paused during the call, apparently due to the unfolding situation at the base.

The twin brother reportedly made repeated attempts to reconnect, sending messages and calling continuously, but received no response throughout the night.

“He kept trying until about 4 am, but there was no answer,” the source said.
