In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, the governor clarified that his stop at the Assembly Quarters was part of a broader inspection tour en route to another project site.
Fubara reiterated that the Assembly Quarters are state government properties, and as such, it is essential to ensure they are well-maintained for the comfort and functionality of lawmakers.
During his visit, the governor took the opportunity to observe firsthand the condition of the quarters and assess what improvements could be made to enhance the working environment for legislators.
Addressing questions about his administration’s road project, Fubara highlighted the significance of the infrastructure initiative in improving transportation and security in the region. He emphasized the importance of governance centered on the welfare and convenience of the people, citing the reduction in travel time as evidence of the project’s positive impact.

Former Governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu is pressuring governors and other politicians to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that political movement into the party is entirely voluntary.
Kalu made this known on Tuesday while speaking with journalists following the resumption of plenary after the Easter break. He urged political stakeholders to focus on strengthening democratic institutions and presenting credible policy alternatives rather than engaging in what he described as unnecessary criticism.
According to him, President Tinubu has not engaged in any form of persuasion or coercion to force politicians into the APC, stressing that individuals who choose to join the party do so on their own accord.
He explained that the APC operates on open terms for entrants, noting that negotiations only take place when politicians express interest in joining, and membership is not imposed on anyone.
Kalu also dismissed allegations that the Tinubu administration is influencing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 elections, describing such claims as unfounded and harmful to democratic progress.
He further criticised opposition narratives, particularly from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accusing them of undermining public confidence in the electoral system.
On concerns about marginalisation of the South-East, Kalu argued that successive administrations, including those of former President Muhammadu Buhari and President Tinubu, have made contributions to national development across all regions, including the South-East.

In another adjustment, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa was relieved of his role as Minister of Housing and Urban Development, while Dr Muttaqha Rabe Darma was appointed as ministerial nominee and designate for the ministry.
The changes were confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, which said the President approved a minor reshuffle of his cabinet.
According to a memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, both Wale Edun and Ahmed Musa Dangiwa are to step down from their roles, with new replacements already named.
The statement noted that Edun, who previously served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, has been directed to hand over duties to Taiwo Oyedele, who now assumes the position.
It also stated that Musa Dangiwa is to transfer responsibilities to the Minister of State within the Housing and Urban Development Ministry, while Darma takes up his new appointment.
The memo further directed that all handover processes be completed on or before Thursday, April 23, 2026.
Explaining the decision, Akume said the reshuffle was aimed at improving coordination within government and strengthening economic delivery under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He added that the President exercised his constitutional powers in line with Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
The President also expressed appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them success in their future endeavours, noting that further adjustments to the cabinet would continue as needed.
