In a notable acknowledgment of recent economic developments, former Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on National Assembly Matters (Senate) to President Muhammadu Buhari, Senator Babajide Omoworare, has lauded President Bola Tinubu and his economic team for their role in the recent surge of the dollar-to-naira exchange rate.
Expressing his sentiments on the latest achievements of the naira, which has garnered recognition as the most improved currency worldwide, Omoworare expressed confidence in the current administration’s ability to sustain ongoing economic, fiscal, and monetary policies, including efforts to combat arbitrage in the currency market.
Despite celebrating the positive momentum in the exchange rate, Omoworare underscored lingering challenges in other sectors, particularly food inflation and fuel pump prices, which have yet to witness significant improvements.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Omoworare highlighted the need for concerted efforts across various levels of government and traditional authorities to address the soaring costs of food commodities, emphasizing the collective responsibility of all Nigerians in this endeavor.
He specifically lauded the President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, for taking proactive steps to reduce the price of diesel, contributing to alleviating economic burdens faced by citizens.
