Lawmakers Issue Three-Month Deadline To Address Insecurity In Nigeria....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The minority caucus of the House of Representatives has given President Bola Tinubu’s administration a three-month ultimatum to tackle the security challenges in Nigeria. Following a meeting at the National Assembly, the lawmakers declared their intention to mobilize Nigerians if the government fails to act.
Speaking on behalf of the caucus after a closed-door discussion, Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda emphasized that the opposition is no longer willing to tolerate the pervasive insecurity gripping the nation.
Chinda stated, “We have assessed the security situation in our country and determined that Nigeria cannot continue in a state where every moment feels like a minute of silence. The government must take immediate steps to normalize the security situation, and we are giving a three-month ultimatum for this to happen. If no progress is made within that timeframe, the caucus will explore further measures to engage and mobilize Nigerians to take charge of their security.”
In related news, elder statesman Edwin Clark has urged President Bola Tinubu to establish a task force dedicated to rescuing the remaining Chibok schoolgirls and others held captive by terrorists. Clark made this call during a press conference in Abuja marking the tenth anniversary of the Chibok schoolgirls’ abduction.
Clark emphasized the need for a proactive approach, urging Tinubu to appoint a special task force comprising courageous and competent individuals. He criticized past administrations for their failure to secure the release of the abducted girls and stressed the importance of prioritizing their rescue.
“Tinubu’s administration must demonstrate seriousness in addressing this issue. The fact that about 90 Chibok girls are still missing after a decade is unacceptable and should be a matter of grave concern for any responsible government,” Clark stated.
