According to ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, the police have apprehended a total of 1,346 suspects involved in various violent offenses. Among the arrests are 385 suspects linked to armed robbery, 238 suspects involved in kidnapping, 341 individuals suspected of murder or homicide, and 87 suspects associated with the unlawful possession of prohibited firearms, among others.

In a statement released on Friday, Adejobi highlighted that the police have also seized substantial quantities of illegal firearms and ammunition, recovering a total of 143 firearms of different calibers and 741 rounds of ammunition. Additionally, 72 stolen vehicles were recovered, and 461 kidnapped victims were rescued across the country during the period.

A notable operation mentioned by Adejobi involved the Operation Zenda Joint Task Force, which, acting on credible intelligence, raided an arms manufacturing hideout in Benue State on March 4. Nine suspects, including a Cameroonian national, were arrested during the operation. The seized exhibits included eight Beretta Pistols under fabrication, one AK-47 rifle, 10 AK47 live ammunition, five Beretta pistol ammunition, as well as welding gas cylinders and other fabrication materials.

Adejobi also issued a call to action, urging landlords and employers of domestic staff in the Federal Capital Territory and other states to visit police stations within their areas to request and fill out forms for the proper profiling of prospective employees/tenants. This initiative aims to enhance the NPF’s ability to identify and deter potential threats within the FCT and beyond.
