Following his appearance before the APC screening committee and subsequent clearance as the first aspirant, Governor Aiyedatiwa addressed journalists at the APC national secretariat. He emphasized that all documents submitted for scrutiny were verified, and questions regarding his credentials were satisfactorily addressed.

Aiyedatiwa dismissed the allegations as “mischief” orchestrated by some aspirants aiming to discredit him, particularly highlighting the issue surrounding his academic certificates. He stated unequivocally, “My certificates are genuine and authentic,” thereby putting to rest any doubts regarding their legitimacy.

Responding to the controversy surrounding his education history, Aiyedatiwa cited historical context, explaining that certain schools, including the one he attended, were established by the government to accommodate students affected by flooding. He asserted that his education credentials align with this historical background, countering any insinuations of impropriety.

However, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, another aspirant, challenged Aiyedatiwa’s assertions, insinuating that the governor’s candidacy was reliant on his association with the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu rather than personal merit. Ibrahim confidently displayed his academic and award certificates to journalists, contrasting Aiyedatiwa’s candidacy.

Despite the verbal sparring, Governor Aiyedatiwa proceeded to inaugurate 12 newly appointed commissioners in the state, urging them to discharge their duties diligently. The governor’s actions underscore his commitment to governance amidst the ongoing political scrutiny and contestation.
