Notable personalities graced the occasion, including the incumbent Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, his deputy Dr. Olaide Adelani, and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Adenike Adeyemo. Also in attendance were former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, and the Minister of State for Transport, Prince Ademola Adegoroye.

Others present included Oba Otudeko, former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, retired AIG Tunji Alapinni, former Minister of Science and Technology, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora, among many others. The late governor’s widow, Betty Akeredolu, and her children were also in attendance.

Addressing the gathering, the Bishop of Ibadan North Anglican Diocese, Rt. Revd. Williams Aladekugbe, urged the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts in addressing the myriad socio-economic and security challenges facing the nation.

Drawing from the Book of John 11:25 with the theme “The Blessings of Death,” Bishop Aladekugbe praised Akeredolu for his courage and meaningful impact on the lives of the people, particularly in the establishment of Amotekun and efforts to tackle cattle wandering.

Regarding the ongoing protests over hunger and economic hardship, the Bishop appealed to all levels of government to urgently address the skyrocketing prices of foodstuffs and other essentials, emphasizing the need for intensified efforts and divine intervention.

“In this period of Lent, let us pray and trust in God,” he concluded.
