The Nasarawa State Police Command has reported that its officers have eliminated a suspected armed robber, identified as Ifienyichukwu Ilegalu, in the Mararaba region of Karu Local Government during a robbery attempt……..READ ALSO
In a statement released on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed that one Edache Joseph, a member of the robbery gang, was also apprehended.
DSP Ramhan Nansel explained that the arrest was made following recent efforts by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, to overhaul the community policing approach in the Mararaba area, which had witnessed several incidents of robbery.
The statement revealed that on April 5, the command received intelligence that a group of 8 armed robbers were targeting residents of Aso pada, Mararaba area.
Upon receiving this information, police operatives collaborated with vigilantes and courageous members of the community to pursue the criminals, resulting in the death of one suspect and the arrest of another.
“The apprehended suspect has provided valuable information and is cooperating with the Police in the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police has praised the efforts of the police operatives, vigilante group, and community members for their bravery, and he has pledged ongoing support. He urged the public to work with the police to rid the state of criminals,” the statement concluded.
