The Jigawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of ten individuals suspected of involvement in vandalism activities across various locations within the state………READ ALSO
DSP Shiisu Adams, the command’s spokesperson, revealed in a statement that the arrests were made as part of ongoing efforts to combat vandalism and safeguard critical infrastructure in the region.
According to Adams, three of the suspects were apprehended in Yalleman during an investigation into the vandalism of a transformer owned by Gajo Farm Yard. Among them, two were residents of Yalleman town in Kaugama local government area, while the third hailed from Hadin village within the same vicinity.
Additionally, another suspect was captured at Mechanic village in Dutse town, where a considerable amount of burnt copper wires suspected to be stolen was found in his possession. Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to purchasing the wires for N30,000 from another individual who is currently at large. Efforts are underway to apprehend the main suspect.
Furthermore, a four-member syndicate was intercepted along the Kazaure to Roni axis with armored cable wire believed to have been vandalized. Despite attempting to flee upon seeing security operatives, all suspects were eventually apprehended. It was revealed that one of the suspects previously worked as a staff at the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO). Upon questioning, the suspects admitted to vandalizing the cable connecting Roni and Gwiwa areas with power supply.
Finally, another suspect was arrested in Jahun and found in possession of a burnt armored cable wire suspected to have been vandalized.
The Jigawa State Police Command assured that investigations are ongoing, and all suspects will face appropriate legal action for their alleged involvement in vandalism activities.

A Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has sentenced Sunmonu Olasunkanmi Thaoban to four years in prison for laundering ₦16 million by disguising its illegal origins and converting it into a 2018 black G-Wagon Jeep.

Guilty Plea & Sentencing: Justice Akintayo Aluko handed down the sentence on Thursday after Thaoban pleaded guilty to a two-count EFCC charge, alongside an alternative fine option of ₦1.8 million.

The Offense: Prosecutors stated that Thaoban acted as a middleman in 2023, funneling illicit funds to purchase the luxury vehicle, violating the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

Asset Forfeiture: In addition to the prison term, the judge ordered the permanent forfeiture of both the convict’s G-Wagon and mobile phone to the Federal Government.

In a separate proceeding, Justice Aluko also convicted four Bureau de Change (BDC) operators—Umar Muhammad Lamido, Yusuf Musa Yusuf, Abdulmuhimin Mahmud, and Muhammed Musa—for conducting unauthorized foreign exchange transactions outside the official market. Following their guilty pleas, each received a 12-month prison sentence with an option of a ₦100,000 fine.
A Delta State High Court has handed down death sentences to two individuals for their involvement in the 2018 killing of Delta State University (DELSU) undergraduate Elozino Ogege, following a ruling that found them guilty. Meanwhile, a third co-defendant facing charges related to the same incident was discharged and acquitted.
