The Plateau State Police Command made a significant bust on Friday, parading a counterfeit soldier alongside 43 other suspects involved in a spectrum of criminal activities. Commissioner of Police Hassan Yabanet presented the suspects to journalists at the Command’s headquarters in Jos, detailing their alleged crimes. Among them was Lucky Okoh, who, posing as a military captain, duped Shedrack Sabo into paying N110,000 for a fictitious job opportunity. SWAT operatives arrested Okoh on March 4, 2024, recovering incriminating evidence from his residence, including a military identity card and recruitment forms.

Additionally, a 24-year-old man stands accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in Farin Lamba village. The suspect, John Sati Choji, reportedly lured the victim to his home under false pretenses. Investigation into this case is ongoing.

In another operation based on intelligence received by the Bokkos Divisional Police Officer, Saddam Abdulmumuni, an escapee from the 2021 Jos jailbreak, was apprehended. He is currently under investigation by the Anti-kidnapping Unit.

Further arrests included Mohammed Awal, implicated in a robbery incident where Halima Hussaini was stabbed and robbed of her mobile phone. A search of Awal’s premises yielded a long cutlass.

Commissioner Yabanet assured the public that all suspects would face legal action following the completion of investigations. He commended citizens for their cooperation and encouraged them to continue providing timely and accurate information to combat crime in the state.
