Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has emphasized the urgent need to resettle Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) back to their ancestral homes, pledging swift action to achieve this goal before the onset of the rainy season.
During a courtesy visit by a delegation from the Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International (COFI) at the Government House in Jos, Governor Mutfwang assured that his administration is diligently working to ensure the prompt resettlement of IDPs.
Governor Mutfwang highlighted the primary focus on relocating IDPs from camps to their original settlements, stressing the necessity of providing security, rebuilding homes, and offering economic empowerment to facilitate their reintegration into communities.
Acknowledging the distress experienced by IDPs living in camps, Governor Mutfwang expressed his commitment to alleviating their suffering and restoring their sense of self-sufficiency.
He expressed gratitude for the assistance received from various quarters while emphasizing the inherent resilience of the people of Plateau State, who prefer productive labor over dependency.
Governor Mutfwang underscored the collaborative effort required to accomplish the resettlement initiative, seeking partnerships with organizations like COFI to ensure its success.
