According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, intensive and proactive visibility patrols will be conducted at various strategic locations, including worship centers, train stations, highways, motor parks, airports, waterways, recreation centers, banks, and other critical infrastructures. This comprehensive approach underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to safeguarding public spaces and ensuring the safety of all citizens.

Furthermore, the Inspector-General has assured travelers of adequate security, regardless of the mode of transportation. Enhanced security arrangements have been made to cover passengers traveling by road, air, waterways, or rail. The deployment of personnel has been increased, and visibility patrols intensified, including aerial surveillance, to maintain a safe and peaceful environment throughout the Easter festivities.

  • Armed individuals intercepted a red Peugeot 406 saloon carrying the victims.

  • The driver, identified as Abdullahi Sa’id, was shot in the right arm during the assault but was later secured and evacuated for medical care by the Divisional Police Officer and responding operatives.

  • Major General Rabe Abubakar (retd.) and his wife, Amina Abdullahi, were taken by the attackers to an undisclosed location before security forces could arrive.

  • The couple had been traveling from Abuja to Katsina to observe the Eid al-Kabir celebration when their vehicle was intercepted.
