The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police has apprehended a pregnant woman, Rosemary Ubah, for allegedly orchestrating her own abduction in collaboration with an accomplice, Walter Ezeala, to extort N2 million from her husband……CONTINUE READING
FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, revealed this during a press briefing on Wednesday at the Command’s headquarters, where the suspects were paraded.
According to Igweh, the incident unfolded after Rosemary’s husband, Chiedozie Ubah, reported to the Gwagwa Police Division that his pregnant wife, who had left home for a medical scan, had not returned.
Chiedozie subsequently received a call from his wife’s phone number, informing him of her alleged abduction and demanding a ransom of N2 million for her release.
Following the caller’s instructions, Chiedozie transferred the ransom sum into his wife’s account. However, after her supposed release, Rosemary was brought to the police station by her husband.
Upon interrogation, Rosemary confessed to conspiring with Walter Ezeala, a neighbor, to extort money from her husband. Walter, in turn, admitted his involvement and disclosed the distribution of the extorted funds.
Authorities recovered N793,500 in cash, two FCMB ATM cards, and two android phones from the suspects. They are set to be charged to court soon.
