Addressing the press in Yola on Tuesday, the State Police Commissioner, Dankombo Morris, disclosed that among the suspects were 40 young men believed to be affiliated with the infamous group known as ‘Shila boys’.
Morris stated, “Eleven individuals were apprehended on charges related to kidnapping, while seven others were detained for involvement in armed robbery activities.”
He further mentioned that thorough investigations have commenced into the cases, emphasizing the commitment to prosecute those found guilty in a court of law.
During the operation, law enforcement officers recovered significant items from the suspects, including a Toyota Prado vehicle with registration number ABJ344HX, and an 18-seater bus with registration number RSH79FA. Additionally, two AK-47 rifles along with 25 rounds of live ammunition, N10,690.00 in cash, a leather pouch containing charms and rings, one power bank, and two GSM handsets were seized.
The police commissioner urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing relevant information to aid ongoing efforts in maintaining peace and security in the state.
