A tragic incident unfolded in Okuoma, Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, where sixteen Nigerian soldiers, including an Army Captain, two Majors, and twelve soldiers, lost their lives during a peacekeeping mission……..CONTINUE READING
According to the Director of Information at the Defence Headquarters, Tukur Gusau, the soldiers responded to a distress call following a communal crisis between the Okuama and Okoloba communities in Delta State. However, upon arrival, they were surrounded and attacked by youths from the community.
The reinforcement team led by the Commanding officer also came under attack, resulting in additional casualties, including the Commanding officer, two Majors, one Captain, and twelve soldiers.
Gusau stated that some suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident, and an immediate investigation has been ordered by the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa. The incident has also been reported to the Delta State government.
The military, despite this tragic event, remains resolute in its commitment to maintaining peace and security in the country. Gusau assured that steps are being taken to unravel the motive behind the attack, and further details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
