According to the statement, a tactical team from the Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN was attacked on July 10, 2024, while attempting to recover arms from a gunrunners’ hideout in Sangasa Village, Fann District, Barkin Ladi LGA, Plateau State.

Assistant Superintendent of Immigration CL Agwom tragically lost his life during the operation, killed by the criminals.

In response, the troops launched a follow-up operation in the district, targeting the recovery of illegal arms, ammunition, and other dangerous weapons, in line with the core mandate of the operation.

Over the course of a week, eight suspects were arrested, and a substantial cache of weapons was recovered from Ratas, Ratoso, and Sangasa Villages in Fann District. The recovered items include:

  • Twelve AK-47 rifles
  • Twelve fabricated AK-47 rifles
  • Fifteen Dane guns
  • Fifteen AK-47 magazines
  • One AK-47 drum magazine with a capacity of 75 rounds
  • 250 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special)
  • Two cartridges
  • Two bottles of gunpowder
  • One sword
  • One complete pair of military woodland camouflage dress
  • One pair of military combat boots
  • Two spears
  • One bow and eight arrows
  • Seven motorcycles

Major Zhakom stated that the significant recovery of arms, ammunition, and military uniforms from Fann District proves that the area has become a criminal enclave. He added that miscreants have spread false information to divert attention from the large cache of weapons held by unauthorized persons in the district.

Operation Safe Haven remains committed to mopping up illegal arms and ammunition within the Joint Operations Area.

“We urge the public to collaborate with security agencies and provide credible information that will aid in securing law-abiding citizens,” the statement read.

The statement also declared the following individuals wanted as part of efforts to apprehend criminals involved in activities in Fann District and its environs:

  • Mr. Timothy Zakka Dung, also known as Timaya
  • Mr. Sam P Dachun
  • Job Yakubu Ishaku

The army appealed to anyone with useful information on the whereabouts of these suspects to contact the nearest security outpost.

“We acknowledge the courageous efforts of the late Assistant Superintendent of Immigration, Christopher Luka Agwom, who paid the supreme price during the operation on July 10, 2024.”

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has declared that it will enforce a total boycott of the 2027 general elections in the South-East and surrounding regions unless the Federal Government expedites the pending appeal of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to a statement issued by Chris Nwaogu, Head of the Fourth Administrator Directorate of State (DOS) for IPOB, the group described the proposed election boycott as a definitive promise rather than a mere threat, placing the onus entirely on the authorities to avert it.

Key Highlights:

  • Demands for Legal Action: IPOB has challenged authorities to ensure that Nnamdi Kanu’s appeal is officially listed and heard, stating that anyone seeking to stop the boycott should engage directly with the ruling government rather than the group.

  • Strategy Kept Under Wraps: The group noted that details regarding how the boycott will be executed will remain undisclosed until closer to the elections to prevent politicians from hijacking the process or inciting violence.

  • Warnings Against Violence: While pushing for the boycott, IPOB cautioned against using the movement as an excuse to cause disruptions, attack property, or sabotage political rallies.

  • Allegations in Enugu State: The group condemned the alleged deployment of political thugs to disrupt opposition rallies and ward meetings—specifically pointing to incidents in Nkanu West where people were reportedly shot and property destroyed—and warned that such intimidation would soon be resisted.

  • Judicial Criticisms: IPOB reiterated its grievances regarding the handling of Nnamdi Kanu’s trial, questioning the delay in his appeal and criticizing prior judgments delivered by Justice James Omotosho under the Terrorism Act and the Nigerian Constitution.
