According to a press release by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson of the command, the insurgents were apprehended during a joint operation with the local vigilante in Awka-Etiti, Idemili South LGA.

The statement detailed that the heavily armed gang was intercepted by the security team, leading to a shootout and subsequent arrest after their vehicle veered into a ditch.

In addition to the arrests, the security operatives recovered four AK-47 rifles and seized a Toyota Highlander SUV with registration number Lagos GGE 408 GZ.

Meanwhile, in another part of the state, specifically in Anaocha Local Government Area, law enforcement officers working alongside the local vigilante intercepted a Toyota Venza with registration number Lagos EKY 746 JB at Neni.

Despite the driver’s attempt to evade capture, a thorough search of the vehicle yielded 34 live cartridges.

The successful operation underscores the commitment of the Anambra State Police Command to maintain law and order in the state, while safeguarding the lives and property of its residents.
