Edo 2024: How Dennis Idahosa Was Disenfranchised Because Of His Age As APC May Face The Worse Crisis Ever....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Edo APC held its gubernatorial primaries across the state on February 17th, around two weeks ago. In a well-organized process,Rt Hon Dennis Idahosa emerged triumphant in a contest where a considerable number of APC members actively participated, demonstrating a widespread show of support.READ FULL ARTICLE.

The primaries were conducted transparently, with the outcome being a result of a fair and open procedure. Numerous videos capturing the events provided substantial evidence to affirm the credibility of the process.

However, a few days after the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) had initially congratulated Dennis Idahosa, they, for reasons known to them, declared the process inconclusive.

Subsequently, another process ensued, and this time a pre-determined script unfolded, resulting in the defeat of Dennis Idahosa by Senator Monday Okpebholo, who represents Edo Central. This move nullified Idahosa’s earlier declared victory.

What factor led to this outcome? Was it the fairness in allowing a candidate of Esan descent to rise? Was it influenced by godfatherism? Or was it simply the age of Dennis Idahosa?

In Edo, residents hold a deep sense of pride in their identity. In this case, Dennis Idahosa’s ascension was attributed solely to his youthful age of 43, rather than being Oshiomhole’s preferred choice. Before the primaries, there were criticisms about Dennis’s trustworthiness due to his resignation from Oshiomhole’s cabinet during the latter’s governorship. So, how can those who accused Dennis of disloyalty to Oshiomhole now claim that Oshiomhole favored him because he could control him? This contradiction is evident.

So, this brings us to the pivotal and final aspect: his age. “Edo man get pride Kakabo” — the pride of the Edo people is well-known. Even finding a deputy for Dennis would have been challenging due to the reluctance of older politicians who view him as a “small boy.”

But is Dennis Idahosa truly a “small boy”? A former commissioner, a two-time member of the federal House of Representatives — achievements that surpass those of his competitors. Yet, some dismiss him as too young to govern the state. Nevertheless, his track record speaks volumes. His commendable projects in his constituency have earned him recognition as one of the finest federal lawmakers in the country.

So, why should a proven performer like Dennis be sidelined because of his age when, in fact, his age could be a factor in winning the general elections? What relevance does his age have to his performance that he was marginalized and portrayed as a political novice?

Now, the consequence of his disconnection becomes evident as the APC finds itself engulfed in one of its most severe crises in the state. Dennis Idahosa, profoundly aggrieved, stands out as the primary APC aspirant capable of securing and safeguarding votes in Edo South. It’s noteworthy that Dennis hails from Ovia, specifically Ovia South West/Ovia North East, encompassing two local governments out of the seven in Edo State.

No one has managed to overcome the PDP, and in the recent turn of events, the LP has gained control in Edo South, except for Dennis Idahosa. He remains steadfast in defending his votes, establishing himself as a reliable connection for grassroots networking a SURE PLUG.

Those who are tarnishing Adams Oshiomhole’s image because he recognized Dennis’s electoral strength cannot secure victories for the APC in their respective local governments. The evidence supporting this assertion is clear and indisputable.

Amidst the cacophony of voices criticizing Adams Oshiomhole for his backing of Dennis Idahosa, one can’t help but marvel at the irony. These naysayers, who gleefully paint Oshiomhole in a negative light, conveniently overlook their own dismal track record in securing victories for the APC in their local domains.

While they busy themselves with pointing fingers, the undeniable truth remains glaringly obvious: their bark is far worse than their bite when it comes to delivering electoral triumphs. Perhaps they should spend less time casting aspersions and more time learning from those who actually understand the dynamics of winning elections.

Given Dennis Idahosa’s proven ability to secure votes from two local governments, the APC could strategically choose a running mate from Owan or Edo Central. This strategic decision might effectively compete for support from Asue Ighodalo of the PDP in Edo Central, consequently securing additional votes for the APC in that region. It’s crucial to highlight that the central region contributes a maximum of 18% to the total votes.

The Edo South would have Akpata and Asue battle hard for the electorates with the APC lurking around to get some support as well knowing fully well that Peter Obi would be in the state to full campaign for his man Akpata which those people in Edo South would listen to the voice of Peter Obi which they have always done so here the PDP would suffer a huge loss.

See, for Edo North, Oshiomhole na the real Baba abeg, no send those people wey dey yarn say Oshiomhole dey overrated. Dem sef no fit win their wards, some sef no fit win their units, but dem still dey talk say Oshiomhole overrated. No wahala, person wey dey carry last, na him dey get energy to laugh. Forget say, no be who first pull shirt dey win fight, make dem just dey play.

The injustice meted out to Dennis Idahosa is like a haunting ghost that will forever linger over the APC in Edo State. The party currently finds itself in a state of utter disarray, akin to a perplexing puzzle that requires divine intervention to unravel and regain favor among the electorates.

Presently, the APC in Edo State finds itself in a precarious situation, akin to a state of DODO (confusion). The injustice meted out to Dennis Idahosa is a thorn that will persistently haunt the party.

Divine intervention appears essential for the party to regain its strength and credibility among the electorate. The need for rectification is palpable, and only with concerted efforts can the APC in Edo State emerge from this challenging predicament.

The arrests came after a group of officers, calling themselves the Military Committee for Refoundation, appeared on national television on Sunday morning, claiming to have removed President Patrice Talon and dissolved all state institutions. The officers asserted that they had seized control of the government.

The presidency, however, confirmed that President Talon is safe and that loyalist forces are restoring order. Authorities described the coup attempt as the work of “a small group” with limited reach, adding that the city and the country remain secure.

Regional bloc ECOWAS has condemned the attempted takeover, describing it as a serious and unacceptable challenge to the democratic will of the people. In a statement issued in Abuja, the Commission called for strict adherence to the country’s Constitution and praised the efforts of the government and the Republican Army in regaining control. ECOWAS warned that the plot’s leaders would be held accountable for any loss of life or property arising from their actions and reaffirmed its full support for Benin, including potential deployment of the regional standby force if necessary.
