Edo 2024: The Unfounded Claims Of Imasuagbon – A Divisive Attempt At Manipulation Of Akpata’s Victory....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

By Oshiobugie John

In the aftermath of the Labour Party’s primary for the Edo 2024 gubernatorial elections, Kenneth Imansuangbon, a defeated aspirant, has resorted to baseless claims and threats, exposing his bitterness at losing the ticket. His attempt to cast doubt on the legitimacy of the process reeks of deceit and a desperate bid to manipulate the situation in his favor…READ FULL ARTICLE.

Imansuangbon’s assertion that the ward congresses were corrupted by irregularities lacks substance and appears to be a mere excuse for his defeat. Accusing the party leadership, including National Chairman Julius Abure and State Chairman Kelly Ogbaloi, of favoring Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata is a thinly veiled attempt to deflect responsibility for his failure.

The threat to drag the Labour Party to court if he is not declared the candidate within a week is not only premature but also smacks of a disregard for due process. It is essential to recognize that the legitimacy of the electoral process should be determined through established party procedures and not through ultimatums and legal threats.

Imansuangbon’s misplaced praise for the APC and PDP, solely based on their candidates’ origin from Edo Central Senatorial District, is a blatant attempt to play the ethnic card. Such divisive tactics have no place in a democratic society and only serve to undermine the principles of unity and inclusiveness.

Leaders within the Labour Party have countered Imansuangbon’s accusations, revealing that he had attempted to compromise those he now blames for his failure. This paints a picture of a candidate willing to sacrifice principles and integrity for personal gain, further diminishing the credibility of his claims.

In contrast, Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata’s victory in the party primary is a result of a free and fair process, untainted by the baseless allegations put forth by Imansuangbon. The widespread support for Akpata is evident in the genuine enthusiasm from the electorate and the acknowledgment of his grassroots efforts.

In conclusion, Imansuangbon’s divisive tactics, false claims, and threats not only reveal his bitterness but also underscore his unsuitability for public office. Edo deserves a leader who embraces the principles of democracy, unity, and fairness. The candidacy of Akpata, who emerged victorious on a transparent and credible platform, represents a beacon of hope for the state, and the electorate should wholeheartedly rally behind him for a progressive and inclusive future.

Ambassadorial Nomination Under Fire: Frank Tie Tie Exposes ‘Mistake’ Regarding Ex-FUOYE VC Fasina!.

Human rights lawyer Frank Tietie has criticized the nomination and subsequent confirmation of Professor Abayomi Fasina, the former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, as a non-career ambassador designate.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Prior to his confirmation, a coalition of civil society organizations protested at the National Assembly on July 7, 2026, opposing Fasina’s nomination due to pending court cases involving allegations of sexual harassment, human rights violations, and victimization.

  • Despite these protests, the Nigerian Senate officially confirmed Fasina’s appointment as a non-career ambassador on Thursday.

Frank Tietie’s Position

  • During an interview on ARISE Television, Tietie argued that nominating an individual with such “baggage” was a mistake, emphasizing that ambassadors represent Nigeria in the same capacity as the President.

  • Tietie stated that the government should have sent the “right signals” by avoiding such controversial appointments, especially given the current state of governance.

  • He argued that even in the absence of a final court judgment, the allegations themselves have “tainted” Fasina’s reputation, and the Senate should have delayed the confirmation until the legal matters were resolved.

  • Tietie also suggested that the National Assembly’s decision overlooks significant social changes regarding how such allegations are now viewed by society.
