The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) made this revelation through its official X handle on Friday.

A video shared by the authority captured the moment some residents rushed out with containers such as kegs and buckets to collect oil spilled on the road.

LASTMA reported that emergency responders were already at the scene working to contain the situation.

Lagos Residents Queue to Purchase ‘Customs Rice’ at N10,000 per Bag

Meanwhile, some Lagos residents were spotted queuing up to buy bags of rice reportedly available for sale at N10,000 each by the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS).

Customs had announced the distribution of seized food items to commence on Friday (today).

In a statement issued in Lagos, the NCS Comptroller General, Adewale Adeniyi, stated that customs officials were not authorized to partake in the process.

According to the statement released through the service’s National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, Adeniyi disclosed that the rice would be packaged in 25kg bags and sold for N10,000.

The targeted recipients, he mentioned, included artisans, teachers, nurses, religious bodies, and other Nigerians within its operational areas.

The initiative’s objective, he explained, was to establish direct communication channels with the beneficiaries to ensure the utmost effectiveness.

Adeniyi cautioned against the resale of food items, underscoring the NCS’s commitment to transparency and accountability throughout the distribution process.
