This crucial decision clears the path for the party to select its candidate for the gubernatorial election slated for September 21, 2024.
The announcement of the delegate list approval was made through a statement released by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, in Abuja on Monday.
The approval signifies a significant stride forward for the PDP as it braces itself for what is anticipated to be a closely contested election in Edo State.
Ologunagba stated, “The NWC has also greenlit the Edo State Governorship Election Primary, scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at the Lawn Tennis Court of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
“The NWC urges all delegates, aspirants, leaders, critical stakeholders, members of our Party, and the general public to take note of the official date and venue and act accordingly.”
Meanwhile, amidst the escalating crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding the 2024 gubernatorial primary in Edo State, a prominent figure, Oserheimen Osunbor, has publicly appealed to President Bola Tinubu for intervention.
The turmoil stems from the recent gubernatorial primaries, which have led to the emergence of three different flag bearers for the APC, raising concerns about the party’s unity and readiness for the impending election.
During a press conference held in his hometown of Iruekpen on Sunday evening, Senator Osunbor outlined the events of last Saturday’s flawed primary, emphasizing the irregularities and confusion that marred the electoral process. He called for the nullification of the primaries, advocating for a fresh round to ensure credibility and fairness.
