The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Mohammed Umar, has denied a request from African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore to postpone his defence in a cyberbullying case brought against him by the Department of State Services (DSS). Defence Request: Sowore’s lawyer, Raphael Adakole, requested an adjournment until after the court’s annual vacation, citing the lead counsel’s absence from the country.

Opposition to Delay: DSS counsel Akinlolu Kehinde (SAN) opposed the request, noting that the defence had already requested 10 previous adjournments. He argued that granting another two-month delay would contradict the court’s existing order for an accelerated, day-to-day hearing under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.
