“Justice Denied? Court Hammers Shut The Door On Sowore’s Bid For Delay!”.

Published

on

The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Mohammed Umar, has denied a request from African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore to postpone his defence in a cyberbullying case brought against him by the Department of State Services (DSS). The court has ordered that proceedings continue on July 16.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Defence Request: Sowore’s lawyer, Raphael Adakole, requested an adjournment until after the court’s annual vacation, citing the lead counsel’s absence from the country.

  • Opposition to Delay: DSS counsel Akinlolu Kehinde (SAN) opposed the request, noting that the defence had already requested 10 previous adjournments. He argued that granting another two-month delay would contradict the court’s existing order for an accelerated, day-to-day hearing under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.

  • Witness Testimony: During the proceedings, defence witness Deji Adeyanju testified regarding statements allegedly made by President Tinubu during a visit to Benue State, in which the President reportedly affirmed the democratic right of citizens to criticise and insult him without fear of suppression.

  • Cross-Examination: During cross-examination, Adeyanju acknowledged his previous role as Sowore’s lawyer and conceded that President Tinubu’s alleged remarks did not suggest that the law should be ignored if an individual commits an actual offence.

“Scandal Rocked: PFIPC DG Adeyemi Breaks Silence, Writes Urgent Letter To President Tinubu!”.

Published

on

Adeniyi Adeyemi, accused of impersonating the Director-General of the nonexistent Project Fund and Public Infrastructure and Finance Commission (PFIPC), has petitioned President Bola Tinubu to establish an independent, multi-stakeholder panel to investigate the agency’s controversy. In an open letter dated July 13, 2026, Adeyemi specifically called for a broader inquiry into the alleged insertion of a ₦1.3 billion allocation for the phantom commission into the 2026 Appropriation Bill.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

While welcoming Tinubu’s directive to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Adeyemi argued that the current investigative structure is insufficient. He contended that true impartiality cannot be achieved when the investigating body answers to the same branch of government implicated in the allegations, stating, “A system cannot credibly investigate itself when its own key actors are central to the discourse.” He further alleged that official narratives focus too heavily on his arrest rather than addressing the systemic vulnerabilities he claims to have exposed.

Beyond structural impartiality, Adeyemi cited grave personal safety concerns, alleging an “immediate, existential threat” to his life if he surrenders to authorities under the present arrangement. He claimed to possess “verified, highly reliable intelligence” indicating a plot to eliminate him upon surfacing. This alleged threat is the reason he remains in an undisclosed, secure location.

Furthermore, Adeyemi linked these fears to the reported death of key intermediary Dolapo Babatunde Tanimola. While official accounts attribute Tanimola’s death to a fire at Kachi Hotel in Utako, Abuja, Adeyemi challenged this version, noting a “total absence” of independent verification of the inferno. He also alleged that the hotel was subsequently invaded by unidentified armed actors and demolished, destroying potential material evidence.

To ensure transparency and public confidence, Adeyemi proposed an expanded investigative body comprising representatives from professional bodies, civil society, the media, and international institutions. Suggested participants include the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Amnesty International, SERAP, the World Bank, IMF, UN, and various foreign diplomatic missions, with the ICPC and EFCC serving as technical partners. Adeyemi declared his readiness to present comprehensive documentation and verifiable evidence to such an independent panel.
