The winner of the 2023 governorship election in Kogi State, Usman Ododo, has officially assumed office as the Governor of Kogi State.
A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ododo was sworn in during a ceremony held in Lokoja, the state capital, on Saturday. The swearing-in follows Ododo’s victory in the November 11, 2023 election. Taking over from his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, Ododo became the 5th Executive Governor of the state.
The oath of office was administered by the state Chief Judge, Justice Joseph Majebi, at 2:30 p.m. Ododo’s deputy, Salifu Oyibo, also took the oath of office.
In his speech, Ododo pledged to build on the achievements of Governor Yahaya Bello while maintaining the unity of the state. The ceremony, held at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre in Lokoja, featured notable dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC Chairman Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje.
