Damagum clarified that the emergency meeting was convened to address unfolding political developments in Rivers State. He highlighted the lawmakers’ awareness of the consequences of their defection and the absence of party division to justify their actions. The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly had officially declared their seats vacant in line with constitutional provisions.
