General Cecil Esekhaigbe: Upholding Integrity Amid Unfounded Criticisms

The Esan community has experienced marginalization in Edo State’s gubernatorial leadership since the advent of democracy in 1999. During this period, the Edo South, predominantly the Benin region, held the governorship for a substantial 16-year tenure, while the Esan people had a brief stint of just over a year, and the Etsakos of Edo North led for 8 years…CONTINUE READING.

In order for the Esan community to regain representation in the governorship race, especially within a democratic system that theoretically allows participation from all geopolitical zones, there’s a need to refine their selection process. It’s imperative to identify and support the most competent candidate capable of navigating the challenges posed by Edo South and Edo North in both the primaries and the general elections.

Amid the recent critique surrounding the screening process for Edo State governorship hopefuls from Edo Central, it becomes crucial to tackle the misconceptions and groundless allegations directed at General Cecil Esekhaigbe.

A man going by the name of Monday Isibor claimed to speak for Concerned Esan Indigenes for Good Governance and made unfounded accusations that undermined the process’s credibility and denigrated a respected Esan leader.

Firstly, the concerns raised were shrouded in anonymity, questioning the legitimacy of Monday Isibor’s representation. While professing an Esan identity, the lack of accountability through pseudonyms undermines the credibility of the allegations, dismissing their objectivity.

General Cecil’s allegations, including assertions of monetary inducement and a lack of transparency, are false. General Cecil Esekhaigbe is a respected Esan leader, a decorated ex-soldier, an accomplished academician with a PhD, and a former diplomat, notwithstanding the scathing statements. His unrelenting dedication to the development of Esanland, particularly youth empowerment, is unrivalled.

The screening exercise chaired by General Cecil adhered meticulously to established guidelines, ensuring fairness and transparency. Any insinuation of impropriety within the process is simply a disservice to the integrity of General Cecil and the aspirants involved.

These unfounded claims seem like a desperate effort to damage the reputation of a well-respected leader.

There’s a resolute call for evidence from any individual alleging that General Cecil accepted money, vehemently challenging the detractors. The integrity of General Cecil stands firm against these slanderous accusations.

Meanwhile, the youth of Esanland have strongly come forward, promising their full backing and support for General Cecil Esekhaigbe Rtd. They stand together against any efforts to tarnish his reputation. Their main concern is progress and growth, urging General Cecil to stay focused despite these unproven criticisms, believing that history will prove his integrity.

In conclusion, an open invitation is extended for a transparent, identity-disclosed debate with those levelling unfounded accusations. The goal is clear: to uphold integrity, promote accountability, and defend the reputation of a distinguished Esan leader – General Cecil Esekhaigbe.
