The incident resulted in significant property damage estimated in millions of naira. During his visit to the affected site on Saturday evening, Gwarzo, who also serves as the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, assured the public that the government would spare no effort in uncovering the cause and ensuring that those responsible face legal consequences.

Gwarzo expressed deep sadness over the incident and emphasized the commitment to bringing perpetrators to justice. He urged the people of Gwale to remain calm and cooperative during the investigation, acknowledging the frustration and anger caused by the unfortunate incident.

The fire, which occurred on December 13, 2023, affected three departments—Works, Community, and WASH—engulfing 18 offices within the Secretariat. Accompanying Gwarzo on the inspection were former Kano State Deputy Governor, Prof. Hafizu Abubakar, the District Head of Gwale, and other government officials.
