The case (PLD/J397/m/2023) was initiated by John Eche Okpe, a Jos-based legal practitioner, who obtained a judgment against the Federal Government of Nigeria. Okpe sought to enforce the judgment through garnishee proceedings against the Central Bank of Nigeria. Justice N.D. Shaseet made the garnishee order nisi absolute on November 1, 2023, amounting to N10 million. Despite this, the Central Bank has refused to adhere to the order.

Consequently, the judgment creditor initiated contempt proceedings against the Jos branch controller of the bank. Despite several attempts, including three adjournments, Akama has evaded court appearances. On December 14, 2023, the court, left with no alternative, issued a warrant of arrest to compel Akama’s attendance and require him to show cause why he should not be imprisoned.

Describing politics as a reciprocal process, Wike stressed that the era of empty promises was over:

“Leaders must demonstrate their commitment to delivering good governance. You cannot make promises during elections and vanish afterward without fulfilling them. We asked you to support Tinubu, starting with the area council elections. On February 21, you came through, delivering 133 of the 135 polling units in the council for Tinubu. What more can we say but thank you? You have done your part; we will now do ours. Abaji people have spoken, and they spoke decisively,” he said.

He said:

“In 2023, Peter Obi asked Obasanjo, who called me while I was in London. He was at the Hilton with Datti and two other stakeholders. When I answered, I didn’t hear him clearly, so I asked, ‘Who is that?’ He said, ‘My name is Obasanjo.’”

“I apologized, and he said, ‘I’m calling you to come and join me.’ At the time, he was publicly denying any role in Peter Obi’s agenda. Peter Obi wanted me to work for him, but I refused.”

Bwala added that Ambassador Amuchi Osuk was initially sent to start the campaign, and Obi’s team expected Bwala to join because of religious dynamics:
