The Ooni emphasized the need for Nigerian governors and members of the National Assembly to enact policies and laws that encourage local production and consumption. He called for measures that would enhance the nation’s economy and create job opportunities for the youth. The monarch urged political leaders to refrain from promoting foreign commodities and suggested that lawmakers mandate the use of indigenous products within the parliament.
Oba Adeyeye urged President Bola Tinubu, governors, and federal lawmakers to incorporate locally made and assembled vehicles into their fleets. He stressed the importance of supporting Innoson Motors and other local products as a means to boost the economy.
In his statement, the Ooni emphasized the need to shift away from benchmarking the economy solely on the Dollar and urged leaders to prioritize indigenous production and products. He called for a change in mindset, encouraging leaders to wear and use locally made products, setting an example for others.
The monarch concluded by urging the National Assembly to enact impactful laws, suggesting that everyone entering the assembly should have a significant percentage of indigenous products, thereby promoting local content. Oba Adeyeye expressed hope that such initiatives would address youth unemployment and prevent potential backlash from frustrated youths in the country.
