Breaking: Lecturers’ Financial Involvement In Course Accreditation-Exposed, Pointing At Tinubu (Details)
A lecturer at the University of Ibadan, Dr. Tade Oludayo, has revealed that lecturers are now pooling funds to secure accreditation for courses from the National Universities Commission (NUC) in many public universities across the country….CONTINUE READING....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Dr. Tade, who teaches in the sociology department, emphasized that lecturers are personally investing efforts to sustain the struggling state of public universities in Nigeria. These assertions were conveyed in a letter titled “A letter to President Tinubu on public universities,” which Dr. Tade addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The letter, made available to Nivo News on Thursday in Ibadan, accuses the ruling class of undermining the university system.
In the letter, Dr. Tade expressed, “Mr. President, the university system is under attack by the ruling class. Perhaps you are not aware, or your aides have not brought it to your attention. Lecturers are dedicating their efforts to preserve the essence of public universities.
“To secure accreditation for courses in many departments of public universities from the National Universities Commission (NUC), lecturers in those departments contribute funds for the accreditation process. This is due to the insufficient financial support from universities or the perceived indifference of school administrations, akin to their political counterparts.
“The situation is dire in some institutions, where staff members have to bear the cost of door labels/tags. I once had a colleague who brought his own generator to power his classroom, driven by the desire to provide students with essential resources. Frustrated by the system, he eventually resigned and relocated to a more appreciative environment where he could simply coordinate people to earn his livelihood.
“As of now, Mr. President, the federal government owes lecturers substantial amounts in earned academic allowances, spanning over six years. This includes compensation for additional teaching and supervision duties undertaken by lecturers due to the government’s failure to recruit more personnel. ASUU struck an agreement to compensate those exceeding their responsibilities until additional staff could be hired.
“I implore you to invest in education, as the prosperity of so-called developed countries is linked to advancements in science and technology resulting from substantial investments in education. Public universities urgently require attention and rescue.”
