FG Explains Delay In February Salaries For Steel Ministry, Four Agencies.
The Federal Government has explained the delay in February 2026 salaries for some civil servants in the Federal Ministry of Steel Development and four federal agencies.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) said the delay resulted from shortfalls in the personnel cost allocations of the affected ministries and agencies.
Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations at OAGF, clarified on Monday in Abuja that the delay affected only a few institutions where allocated funds were insufficient. The affected organisations include the Federal Ministry of Steel Development, Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), National Rural Electrification Agency, Kamuku National Park, and the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria.
Mokwa explained that the OAGF has directed the affected ministries and agencies to work with the Cash Management Office of the Federal Ministry of Finance to resolve the funding gaps and ensure outstanding salaries are paid.
“The delay in salary payment for the affected organisations was strictly due to shortfalls recorded in their personnel cost allocations,” the statement said.
The office confirmed that other federal employees were not affected, as salaries for workers in other ministries, departments, and agencies had already been paid.
The OAGF also addressed issues for staff with accounts at Standard Chartered Bank, noting that some employees could not access their salaries because the bank requires a minimum opening balance of seven million naira. While the salaries had been credited, the bank’s account policy prevented withdrawals.
The Accountant-General’s office assured affected workers that efforts are ongoing to resolve the shortfalls and urged them to remain patient while payments are processed.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.
The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.
Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.
He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.
Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.
Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.
In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
The legal notice maintained that the allegations were baseless and intended to damage the reputations of the two entertainers.
