The approval followed the presentation of the report by Sen. Bilbis Ikra (APC-Zamfara), the Chairman of the Committee on Communication, which was subsequently endorsed by the Committee of the Whole on Thursday.
Ikra emphasized President Bola Tinubu’s endorsement of Maida for the NCC Chairman role and highlighted the compliance with the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) Establishment Act, 2003, Section 8 (1).
He assured the Senate that Maida, having undergone thorough vetting, possesses the required security clearances, training, work experience, competence, and regulatory skills essential for ensuring the success of the NCC. In light of these considerations, he urged the Senate to affirm the appointment, leading to the approval of Aminu Maida as the NCC’s Executive Vice Chairman.
