Kula denounced the report as “fictitious, misleading, and potentially crafted to discredit, demean, and portray His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia in a negative light.” Terming the news as fake, the CPS asserted that there was no incident of objects being thrown at Governor Alia or his convoy anywhere in Benue State.
Setting the record straight, Kula clarified that Governor Alia visited Vaatia College, Makurdi, in response to reported criminal activities by Ugondu youths.
The statement outlined that Governor Alia, in the company of traditional rulers and prominent elders, addressed the situation, emphasizing the need for apprehending those responsible for the reported house breakages, theft, tomb desecration, and vandalism.
Kula highlighted that the Governor proceeded to Vaatia College without disturbance, conducted the meeting, and left without incident.
The statement emphasized Governor Alia’s positive rapport with the people, citing his history of walking through streets and markets without harassment. Kula urged media professionals to adhere to ethical journalism principles, emphasizing the importance of credibility and verifying news sources before publication.
The release cautioned against the propagation of fake news, stressing the need for investigative reporting to maintain the integrity of journalism.

He said his administration would operate a structured system that promotes participation and representation of all segments of society in governance.
The pledge was conveyed by a former lawmaker and ex-Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, after he represented the candidate at an engagement with members of the Arewa community in Ibokun, Obokun Local Government Area.
Oyintiloye said the plan is aimed at strengthening the link between government and grassroots communities, ensuring public policies reflect citizens’ real needs.
He added that all groups would be actively involved in both policy formulation and implementation to drive development in the state.
Oyebamiji also promised continued engagement with farmers, traders, artisans, and non-indigene communities as key stakeholders in governance.
Responding, leaders of the Arewa community commended past inclusion efforts and pledged support for the APC candidate ahead of the election.

Multiple factions are now locked in a struggle for control of the party, leaving members uncertain about the legitimate leadership structure.
One faction is led by John Akpanudodehe, a former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while another is headed by the embattled state chairman, Dick Duke.
Although the leader of a third faction could not be immediately confirmed, findings indicate that another group also exists within the party.
Sources further suggest that the Akpanudodehe-led faction is seeking to remove the current chairman through a recently held congress that has sparked controversy.
In response, Dick Duke convened a stakeholders’ meeting over the weekend, where he rejected the legitimacy of the said congress.
He said the party had formally written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to distance itself from the exercise, citing a subsisting court order.
According to him, his tenure as state chairman is still valid until May, and any congress conducted before then would be unlawful.
Duke added that the party would only proceed with proper congresses after the expiration of his tenure and the resolution of legal issues, in line with due process.

The dispute involves three individuals — Tony Alile, Kennedy Odion, and Deacon Nosa Ehima — all laying claim to the position of state chairman.
Alile, who emerged from the party’s state congress, said efforts have been intensified to activate internal conflict resolution mechanisms to settle grievances and promote unity ahead of future elections.
Speaking at a political gathering in Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area, he said the move was necessary to strengthen cohesion within the party amid its rising profile.
“We are aware of concerns arising from my emergence as chairman, but I assure members that the party has activated its internal conflict resolution framework to address all issues amicably,” he said.
He added that the party remains focused on unity, inclusiveness, and building a strong platform capable of winning elections and delivering good governance.
Alile also noted that the growing influx of members reflects public dissatisfaction with existing political structures, insisting that ADC is positioning itself as a credible alternative.
Other speakers at the event described recent defections into the party as evidence of shifting political sentiments, saying the ADC is gaining support due to growing calls for better governance and development.
