Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has called upon the state’s residents to embrace peace, practice religious tolerance, and reject all forms of violence that may lead to law and order disruptions.
The governor made this appeal during the state’s gospel music concert titled “Shout” in 2023, held at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi Conference Centre in Minna.
Governor Bago expressed concern over how people have allowed themselves to be divided along religious lines over the years. He described the “Shout” event as a platform to promote unity and peace through music.
He commended the organizers for their initiative, noting that it would not only foster religious harmony among the followers of the two major religions but also strengthen their bonds.
Governor Bago stated, “I am here today to give thanks to God. I came here last year during ‘SHOUT’ to seek your support, and you gave it to me. I have returned to express my gratitude.
The governor assured the event’s convener of the government’s ongoing support and pledged to convert the Trade Fair Complex in Minna into a suitable venue for next year’s “Shout” to accommodate more attendees.
He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing insecurity in the state. Governor Umaru Bago urged the people to support the present administration in realizing the vision of a “New Niger” that transcends religious, tribal, or gender biases.
Governor Bago attended the program alongside his Deputy, Yakubu Garba, Chief of Staff Abdullahi Usman Gbatamangi, and other high-ranking government officials.
It’s worth noting that during his campaign last year, Governor Umaru Bago attended “Shout,” where he sought votes from the attendees and promised to return for a thanksgiving event this year.
The event was convened by Pastor Peter Rock, the resident Pastor of House on the Rock in Minna. “Shout” drew thousands of worshipers and featured various gospel singers from both within and outside Nigeria.
