President Bola Tinubu has expressed his deep sorrow at the demise of former Minister of Education, Professor Ben Nwabueze (SAN). As previously reported by Naija News, Professor Nwabueze passed away on Sunday evening at the age of 91 in his residence.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu described the loss of the eminent constitutional lawyer as a significant blow to the nation. He emphasized that Professor Nwabueze’s profound knowledge of the law and his contributions to the precedents and principles of the country’s constitution were remarkable.
Tinubu extended his condolences to the Nwabueze family, as well as the government and people of Anambra State, in honor of the elder statesman.
The statement conveyed, “President Bola Tinubu offers his heartfelt condolences to the Nwabueze family, the government, and the people of Anambra State, following the passing of the distinguished constitutional lawyer and former Minister of Education, Professor Ben Nwabueze, SAN, CON, NNOM.
President Tinubu remarked that the loss of the preeminent constitutional lawyer is a profound one, highlighting Professor Nwabueze’s extraordinary grasp of the law.
“Prof. B.O. Nwabueze’s contributions to the precedents and principles of the nation’s constitution are noteworthy. His involvement in the formulation of the 1979 constitution is a legacy that sets him apart, as well as his exceptional contributions to the legal profession as a whole.
“The President urges his family, the good people of Anambra State, and all Nigerians to find comfort in the honorable legacy left behind by the departed.
“The President prays that God Almighty grants the gentle soul of Prof Nwabueze eternal rest.”
