Nigerians React As NNPP Leader Condemns Federal Lawmakers For Proposed N160 Million SUV Purchase, Economic Hardship
Nigerians React As NNPP Leader Condemns Federal Lawmakers For Proposed N160 Million SUV Purchase, Economic Hardship....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi, a prominent figure within the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has criticized federal legislators for their intention to procure 109 Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs), each valued at N160 million. He has accused these lawmakers of displaying insensitivity in the face of the current struggles endured by ordinary Nigerians.
In a statement issued by Ajadi, he expressed concern about the hardships faced by Nigerians, stemming from the removal of subsidies and the challenging economic conditions. He questioned how those who represent the people in Abuja could exhibit such selfishness and lack of empathy.
The statement conveyed, “Numerous Nigerians are grappling with the inability to provide for themselves. Many are succumbing to poverty daily. The current high inflation rate is leading to many school children dropping out of school.
“It is disheartening that our senators are conducting themselves as if they do not reside in Nigeria. They appear to be indifferent to the predicaments of Nigerians. Their actions reveal a high level of insensitivity and a lack of moral consciousness regarding the suffering of ordinary Nigerians.”
“If they were truly sensitive, would they be discussing the purchase of cars worth billions of Naira when the Naira-to-dollar exchange rate is undeniably embarrassing?”
“It is equally distressing that many of our national legislators are justifying the extravagant cost of these SUVs by citing the poor state of roads across the country.”
“This cannot serve as a justification; the deplorable state of roads is an indication that they are not effectively fulfilling their government roles. We must question them: whose responsibility is it to provide good roads if not the Federal Government, in which senators play a crucial part?”
“This situation also highlights the fact that our senators and House of Representatives members often fail to revisit their constituencies to understand the conditions their constituents are experiencing once they are elected.”
“This issue must be rectified. Our national legislators must maintain proximity to their constituents and comprehend their struggles. This is what our constitution mandates, and we must adhere to it.”
“Just last week, I commended the members of the House of Representatives for empathizing with teachers when the Chairman of the Committee on Education recommended a salary increase from primary schools to tertiary institutions. This is a positive step, and it reflects the kind of actions we expect from our lawmakers.”
