Nigerians Arewa Consultative Forum Celebrates General Yakubu Gowon On His 89th Birthday, Hails Him As An Architect Of The Nigerian Project....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), the apex socio-cultural group in Northern Nigeria, has marked the 89th birthday of General Yakubu Gowon (rtd), the Chairman of its Board of Patrons, by lauding him as one of the eminent and iconic architects of the Nigerian Project.

In a statement issued by the national publicity secretary of the forum, Prof. T. A. Muhammad-Baba, it was noted that reaching the age of 89 is a significant milestone in the life of the retired General, particularly at this stage of his life.

The ACF expressed that General Gowon is concerned about the current state of affairs in Nigeria, both in politics and the economy, and the well-being of its citizens. This concern is underscored when the General reflects on the dedication and energy he and his contemporaries, while relatively young, invested in keeping the country united and indivisible.

Looking back, General Gowon is likely to reminisce about the more optimistic times in Nigeria’s history, particularly after the Civil War of 1969-1970. During that period, he popularized the motto “No Victor, No Vanquished” and the idea that “To keep Nigeria One is a Task that Must be Done.” While the nation continues to pursue this vision, it acknowledges that it remains a work in progress, and the challenges are substantial. Nonetheless, all hope is not lost.

The Arewa Consultative Forum extends its felicitations and offers prayers for General Yakubu Gowon, wishing him many more joyful celebrations in the future. The ACF is confident that the General will continue to maintain a positive, hopeful, and prayerful outlook, believing that things will eventually work out favorably for Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa and home to the world’s largest population of the Black race.

Warm birthday wishes and all the best to General Yakubu Gowon (rtd), former Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and Grand Chairman of the ACF Distinguished Board of Patrons,” the statement concluded.
